Before Katrina this was 4 stars.
Post Katrina and since Mama died, this place has gone down.
I've been coming here for 25 years. This used to be the place for authentic mexican food on the westbank but since the storm, so many really good mexican restaurants have opened that la Fiesta is getting blown away. first, it seems like they nuke the food. Plate comes scorching hot and food is out about 2 minutes after you order it.
I like to get the Houston and in the old days, it would come on 2 plates about 5 mins apart. Now it still comes on two plates(red hot) and all at once which if you've had the houston you know its better ot get the food in waves but the real shame is the quality of the food as dipped. -

This is the closest to Texas Mexican food i have found and I'm in love. I could eat here every day and never get tired. It is so good but if you are used to white cheese and the canned red enchilada sauce served at other restaurants then you might be disappointed. This is the real deal. I wish i could give it 10 stars
***update*** went back today and i got pics. I had the Corpus Christi and my fiancée had the chicken fajita nachos. Still the best Mexican restaurant around. And i travel between three states (Louisiana, Mississippi and. Alabama). -

I'm surprised this restaurant has such low reviews. In my opinion, this is the best Mexican food on the West Bank. Yes, many of the dishes are Americanized - but most Mexican restaurants in general are Americanized. The food here is simple yet good. I like the cozy atmosphere. Monday through Friday they have a $7.99 lunch special that you can't beat. I will say that I do not particularly care for their guacamole; it's too creamy. The service is always impeccable - friendly and attentive! I like the margaritas but if you are searching for something very boozy then go elsewhere. I like the fact that they are a little weak because it allows me to enjoy one at lunch without getting sleepy. Some of my favorite dishes are the fajita chicken taco salad, tacos or tostadas.

No, no, a thousand times no. A friend dragged me here saying that his friend told him that the place is amazing. Parking was...interesting they literally have 5 spaces, ended up parking on the side of the building (illegal?? i dunno!). Walking inside it seems like it hasn't been updated in a long time. A plus is that the waitress was really friendly and attentive. She brings us salsa (in a bottle o.o, shocking) and this refried bean dip with melted cheese on top. The salsa was meh, had to question whether it was made in house or not because it just wasn't flavorful. The bean dip was good but it was nothing I'd ever pay for.
I end up ordering the Austin special which was 1 cheese and 1 chicken enchilada, two taquitos with (beans?) and guacamole on the side. Friend orders a chimichanga.
Enchiladas
Cheese- enchilada was just ok, not filled with a yuuge amount of cheese but enough to taste it.
Chicken- omg maybe the worst thing I've ever had at a restaurant. The chicken was mushy in places and the taste was completely off.
Refried beans- tasted like chili from a can. not something I'd expect to be served at a restaurant, would be great on a random hot dog though :/
Taquito- probably the best thing on the plate, tasted like the frozen variety though.
Guac- tasted like the packaged kind. Not memorable.
I ask the waitress for hotsauce since there is none on the table and she says that they don't have any except tabasco. Whaaaaat? Whhyyyy what kind of mexican restaurant doesn't have at LEAST tapatio! #Shameful. She was nice enough to check the kitchen to see if they have any but they don't. I absolutely needed it to mask the flavor of that chicken enchilada. Friend let me have a bit of his chimichanga and it was just ok, maybe 2-3 stars. This is easily the worst mexican restaurant I've ever been to, I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. I feel like I paid way too much for what I got. As a matter of fact I could do way better in my own personal kitchen .
